 Boat Naming Made Simple

LA OSA
" THE BEAR "Named for a nickname for my daughter, converted to Spanish when she was taking Spanish in High School when I would talk to her in Spanish. Also my desire to sail to Mexico. Also a big bear of a boat (41 x 13'10")

JOYRIDE
For years we thought that we would name our first boat "Afternoon Delight" after the popular song of the same name. But by the time we finally got around to buying that first boat another song was popular - and seemed to fit our idea of boat ownership even better. So our first, and now our second boat were named for the Roxette song " Joyride." Part of the words to the song go: "Hello, you fool, I love you. C'mon and join the joyride. Be a joyrider."

PACIFIC CETAUR
This 26' westerly centaur cruises on the west coast of Canada. I needed a name that would catch the attention of the large freighters coming around East Point in poor visibility.

MEDIUM RARE
There is nothing quite as perfect as a properly cooked steak. Our "MEDIUM RARE" is a 1953 31 foot Chris Craft Sedan Cruiser. It is the perfect boat for our two-family partnership. A production boat, it is not particularly rare. Nor is it particularly common. It's sort of "MEDIUM RARE" and the name of our mahogany near-classic. "MEDIUM RARE" can be seen cruising the waters of Puget Sound in Washington State.

DIRTY DAVE'S DUGOUT
17' Michicraft canoe with electric trolling motor used to"cruise" the Coldwater and Perdido rivers of Northwest Florida. You should have seen those natives trying to hollow out that solid aluminium tree with blow torchesand chisels. Many a time was it heard as I would round a bend in the river,"Hey! That's cheating!" to which I would reply "Don't liketo work too hard at having fun!".
