What's your story?
HYDROTHERAPY
is our 31' Wellcraft Scarab. The name can refer to sitting in a whirlpool to cure physical problems but this boat serves to let us escape the stress of our working lives.
MINUIT
was the name given by the previous owner for one simple reason : he built it on his own & it took him 4 years and most of the time, since he did it after work, he was working through midnight, that's why he called it "Minuit", midnight in French.
SECOND SUN
Origin: Sometime around 1970, rising superstar Neil Diamond released the little-known album, "Velvet Gloves and Spit." Buried in that album was a wonderful little song titled "Sunday Sun." It included the line "Sunday Sun, when you're out, get to feelin' like I want to smile." Our first boat was named "Sunday Sun" after the song. When we purchased our second boat in 1983, the logical name became "Second Sun."
MICHAELANNE
Every boat we've ever owned has been " Michaelanne ", which is the name we chose over 40 years ago when we were going together in high school...we always felt we were two halves of the same soul and we always dreamed that we'd be sailing off in a boat...and her name would be "Michaelanne." We lost the last "Michaelanne", an Islander 36, in Hurricane Marilyn down in St. Thomas, USVI Sept. '95. We are in the process of trying to find another boat so the adventure can go forward.
FLYBUOY
Having been a fighter pilot for 26 years, it seemed only natural, when searching for a boat name, to combine the wind-driven sport of sailing with flying. We decided on the play-on-words name of " Flybuoy " for our racing boat. The four craft surrounding the name could be sailboats, or they could be fighters in a loose formation. Jake McGuire
