What's your story?
OUTTADOUGH
My wife and I after each of us writing pages of names down over a weekend get away, finally agreed on OuttaDough. Anyone whose purchased a boat knows the obvious implication, however I'm also an owner of a bakery!
WAKAN WATA
- it is Lakota (Sioux) for Boat of the Water Spirit. It looks like (and many people think) Walkin on wata. The proper pronounciation is Wakanee Watta.
FAR RIGHT
I'm a very politically conservative Reagan Republican. Most of thepeople who live in my area of Chicago are so-called "lakefrontliberals." I wanted them to know that there is at least one independantthinker in the neighborhood, so I name my beautiful wooden 1962 Thompson
EITHNE
A few years ago, my wife and I were sailing off the coast of Oregon in a 42' sloop. We were all going whale-watching, and the skipper had Jimmy Buffett playing on the stereo. I asked him if the whales liked Jimmy's music, and he said "no, but they really seem to like Enya." So, I looked into her music, and have become quite an Enya fan.
On buying my 4th boat (a 27-footer) this past Summer, I was having a real hard time thinking of a boat name that hadn't already been used, at least in the Puget Sound area. I knew that Enya's real name is "EITHNE" in Gaelic, but pronounced "Enya." It seemed like the perfect name, so "Eithne" ("Enya") she is! So far, I have not heard of another boat with her name.
DAYDREAM
is a Tayana 37 bluewater cruising sailboat that we plan one day to use as a retirement home. She is a constant source of content for daydreams, hence, the name. Not fancy but descriptive! Im sure your boat is source material for your daydreams and sometimes nightmares too.
