What's your story?
AERIE
We named our boat "Aerie" because it means eagle's nest (among other things) and connotes a place of relaxation. My husbandis a pilot of both planes and hang gliders and this name seemed totie these adventurous activities together. It also pays homage to the birds of prey that share the thermals with my husband when he's soaring. He says that up close they're not beautiful to look at, but unbelievablyelegant and graceful in flight..
SILENT ATTITUDE
First my sister wanted to name it TAZ or something like that because she thinks the Taz cartoon character is really cool. I then started to think about different names with the Warner Brother themes. ie. Sylvester, Tweety, Bugs, But I focused in on Tweety. Tweety has a non-marine attitude so I started to think of other things. I wanted to name my boat with deep inner feelings to reflect my personality, so since I love Christmas, I started thinking about Christmas carols. ie Jingle Bells, Deck the Halls, and Silent Night. After many nights of frustration I finally crossed Tweety's Attitude with Silent Night and named my boat "Silent Attitude".
NARNIA
We named our 29' Cruisers "Narnia", after the mythical paradise in C. S. Lewis' childhood tales called the Chronicles of Narnia. They're great children's stories, and our boat gives us that sense of mythical paradise. Also, our kids loved the books, and thought it'd be a great name for our boat. .
FLOATING POINT
...a name that was both nautical and somehow related to my profession, without being too obvious about the latter. It sounds nautical, and while relatively few non-programmers have caught on to the hidden meaning, that's fine by me. .
KAY LA VON
Named after our oldest daughter because this was our first big boat!.
BLACK BART
I spend my time on the waters off the West Coast of Vancouver Island. Home is Tofino. I have a fairlyheavy black beard hence the name Black Bart was given to me andthe boat. This happened about twelve years ago and there it stuck..
