What's your story?
REVE DIVERS
The story is very short. In Montreal, we had a very early winter in 1995, so, it is very sad to see the boat sitting, all covered up. The name I choose is "REVE DIVERS". "DIVERS", in french is miscellaneous and "REVE" is dream. Although Ihave written "DIVERS", the same pronounciation spelled "D'HIVER" is winter..
SEAS THE MOMENT
No story, just a nautical handle that defines our state of mind. We call our boat "Seas The Moment", because we do. .
Perfectly Adequate / Ocean Assassin
My boat actually has two names depending on the my mood. After several months of suggesting to my wife what we needed was a nice sailboat to spend more time together asa family with our two small children, she finally conceded realizing "you are going to get the damn thing anyway!". We set a budget of $5K and I went shopping. We bought a Catalina 22 and in defending it's selection, I stated to my wife that the boat is 'perfectly adequate". Hence it's first name "Perfectly Adequate". I soon realized that the boat needed an alter ego to dispel any notions of mediocrity associated with it's name, so I started calling the boat "Ocean Assassin" I get great pleasure hailing a drawbridge operator on Lake Pontchartrain while following a 50' or soboat which inevitably has a name like "Grand Mariner" and identifying myself as "United States Sailing Vessel Ocean Assassin" and have them turn around and see a Catalina 22.I hope it makes them realize how pretentious their name is.
SHAMWARI
I have recently bought a boat with an awful name of Suzy Mark II. It was the name of the previous owners kids. I have renamedit SHAMWARI which is an Shona (Zimbabwe Tribe) word meaning'My good friend'..
ANTARES
I have a 29' Thundercraft that I bought 6 years ago, I call her the Antares, which happens to be a bright star in the sky, and my wife's name is Anna and mine is Terry.
