What's your story?
CATNIP
For several reasons... Foremost, it's a CATboat (single large sail on a mast set well forward). Only 42 were built in Rhode Island in 1982/83 (ours is hull #39). NIP because it's quick and responsive (nippy!) without being scary. CATNIP affects me much the way catnip affects our cats - it relaxes and exhilarates at the same time. The Pearson 23 is a great boat because it's an exercise in ultimate simplicity combined with the highest quality design and hardware. Free-standing aluminum mast, Schaeffer and Harken hardware ... the best there is. We love the boat!
SNAFU
Meaning situation normal, all fouled up
HAULIN' BASS
Obviously a Bass Fisherman's Boat!
ICEBREAKER
I recently purchased my first boat, a 1970 24' Seabird Open Fisherman. As you are probably aware, back in those good old days they used much more fiberglass than they do now, and the hull on my boat was poured in a boatyard in Hialeah, Florida. On a recent fishing tournament, the seas were 4'-6' and lots of the boats decided not to go out. I went out with a couple of buddies and had no problems at all. One of the guys said, between beers, "this thing is as strong as an Icebreaker", hence the name of my boat.
BLUEBERRY JAM
This 30' Catalina Tall rig is sailed on the Great Lakes out of Holland MI. We have been pretty successful racing in the Jib and Main, or JAM, fleet. When we are not sailing in the summer months, we are busy taking care of our blueberry farm.
