FLEETWOOD
My boat is called"Fleetwood". However, it is always refered to as "The Fleetwood". The boat is a 14'7"runabout built by my father, his brother, and their dad. The story goes like this... My father used to go to visit his aunt and uncle on Hood Canal every year in the summer. One summer, my Dad saw this really cool boat zooming arround the Canal. Somehow he got to talk to the owner. My dad asked him where he bought his boat, and the owner, Jerry Bass, told him he designed it and built it himself. My dad thought this was the coolest boat he'd ever seen and had to have plans. He asked Jerry how much it would cost for a set. Jerry told my dad that he wanted to go into the business of building boats and if he'd paint Fleetwood on the side of it, he would give him a set. Fleetwood is the name Jerry wanted to use for his company. Shortly there after, an envelope came in the mail with the plans in it. They were drawn on butcher paper and where not very detailed. There was the chine line, the keel, and the frames. My

MDCM
I was lucky enough to talk my wife into our first boat, a Griffin 17 (Australian trailer sailer) only after promising her (jokingly) that I would name it"My Darling Catherine Mary", after her. After getting the boat, I turned chicken and only put the initials. Trouble is, people think it stands for a commercial fishing license number, now.
