Boat Naming Made Simple
ONE BUCK
Phil had let his Taipan 28 get a bit behind in maintenance. When I met him, he and his 5 year old son were knee deep in water, bailing the Main Salon. After I offered much encouragement, he reminded me that this was not what he had in mind on the day before Super Bowl Sunday. He said "I'm so happy with this situation, that I'd be happy to sell this boat for One Buck." I handed over the money, and the name stuck...but i paid too much.

Insanity 2 (squared)
Is a 30' S2 sailboat that was purchased by my myself and my girlfriend as a liveaborad / short term cruiser.  We are both engineers by trade (Me manufacturing, Her electronic).  We both thought this whole idea of buying a boat to live on was Insane, and because it was times two (both of us). You will be happy to know that the equation worked, and we are still together after one year aboard, and in the process of getting a new boat together.

PLUG
Our boat, an International 14, is named PLUG because she was the plug for the Kirby III line of boats. She was built in 1966 by W. A. Souter of Cowes, England of double diagonal Mahogany, bright finished inside and out.

GERONIMO
Our boat's name is "Geronimo". It is our first boat. Part of the reason for the name is that it was our "first jump" into sailing, so what do you say when you take the big jump? Yell, Geronimooooo !

Also, leading up to the boat purchase was watching the movie "Wind" a couple of dozen times. If you watch the movie closely you'll see a figure similar to our logo (theirs had a club, ours has a spear). It was all good fun back then trying to decide on a name for the boat.

Renaming the used boat we purchased to "Geronimo" was easy considering that the name of the boat had been "For Sail".

SEA GRUB
My boat, who I own with my brother, Geoffrey, is named SEA GRUB. When we were young, my little sister couldn't wrap her tongue around Geoffrey, so he was called Grub (which stuck), thus when we needed a name for the boat, SEA GRUB was natural.
