Boat Naming Made Simple
THISTLEDEW
I was taking my sister for a ride in my new geen noo and we were talking about naming it. She said something about a bigger boat but this will do and that was it..a new name.

GESCHWINDT AF OERETULL
Well as you might guess Geshwindt is almost the German word geshwind, which means quick, fast etc. But in Swedish geschwindis somewhat of an idiom, thus meaning swiftly, easily achievedetc. The extra "t" in Geschwindt is there to easify the pronounciation in Swedish, but is also a similarity with my last name Tuvstedt. The idea of the Boat-Name "Geschwindt afOeretull" originally comes from a funny sketch written by the swedish author Hans Alfredsson. The meaning "af ...." means from.... e.g. "of ...." However the place Oeretull, (First letter is "omlauth" (spelling ?)), doesn't exist. "tull" meansgate/customs and Oere is a common prefix for place-names. Followingly there are places called "Norrtull", "Roslagstull" meaning the gate to the north (from the city),the gate to "Roslagen" ... And also geografic places like Oerebro, Oeresund.The reason for the name Geschwindt af Oeretull is partly as an admiration act to Hans Alfredson but also and more importantly,to confuse and scare...

SUMMER SCHOOL II
We are teachers, and we can honestly say that we spend all of our summers in summer school. We don't pick up a lot of college credits or extra pay (quite the contrary), but we do enjoy ourselves in our 2452 Bayliner Classic. BTW, our dinghy's name is Hooky from Summer School II. We have only seen one other Summer School boat andthey were retired teachers. Actually, our previous boat was also Summer School.

MOSES
I have a very heavy Uniflite with a motor so powerful that ti thinks it can plane. Actually, it "Parts The Sea". Hence, the name Moses. Of course, each weekend it also "Leads The Children Out Of Slavery Into The Promised Land"

RELEVARE
This is the name of my Beneteau First 35. The name came withthe boat (bad luck to change it). I believe that it means an unveiling,such as a work of art.

WET 'VETTE
We bought a 1994 MasterCraft Maristar 225 VSR with an LT-1 Corvette engine. Now, I can't afford the famous land-locked 'vette, so we decided on wet'vette for the boat name. I pull it with an '88 Jeep Cherokee, license plate WET VET 1. Couldn't get an exact match, but close!
