There are several reasons why these folks might have chosen this particular name for their boat. We don’t have the official story for The Boat Name Page, we can only surmise.
We were simply charged with coming up with a graphic that picked up the navy color in the boot stripes and canvas and exploring various fonts that were suitable for a boat.
Geographical reference: “Southern” could indicate the owner’s connection to the southern United States or a southern coastal area.
Playful connotation: “Tickle” suggests a light, fun, and enjoyable experience, which could reflect the owner’s attitude towards boating or their personality.
Double meaning: In some coastal areas, particularly in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, a “tickle” refers to a narrow salt water strait between two islands or between an island and the mainland. So, it could be a clever play on nautical terminology.
Sensory experience: It might refer to the sensation of waves or wind on the boat, creating a “tickling” feeling.
This is a bevel letterface with a silver foil outline and a soft drop shadow. I like this boat name the best. Also where it is placed on the hull. These Hunters have different window positions on port and starboard. That’s why its great to have shots of boat sides of the vessel before we begin designing boat graphics.
Left this without 3D effects and fancy stuff to represent a simple 2 layer vinyl graphic, dark blue or navy with a gray or silver outline. All sizes being equal, this is the least expensive option.
A wide font letterface allows for a nice bevel. In this example the lettering is outlined with a metallic silver vinyl, (not foil) although any of these combinations may be interchangable.
