GESCHWINDT AF OERETULL

Well as you might guess Geshwindt is almost the German word geshwind, which means quick, fast etc. But in Swedish geschwind is somewhat of an idiom, thus meaning swiftly, easily achieved etc. The extra “t” in Geschwindt is there for my Swedish friends, but is also a similarity with my last name Tuvstedt. The idea originally comes from a funny sketch written by the Swedish author Hans Alfredsson. The meaning “af ….” means from…. e.g. “of ….” However the place Oeretull, (First letter is “omlauth” (spelling ?)), doesn’t exist. “tull” means gate/customs and Oere is a common prefix for place-names. Also there are places called “Norrtull”, “Roslagstull” meaning the gate to the north (from the city), the gate to “Roslagen”… And also places like Oerebro, Oeresund. The reason for the name Geschwindt af Oeretull is partly to tip the hat to Hans Alfredson but also and more importantly, to confuse and scare…
