IF I HAD A PONY

A friend and I headed down the road to the poorhouse and bought a boat together but we could not think of a name that would suit us both. Finally, listening to the radio one day it came to us: ” If I had a boat” by Lyle Lovett which includes the line ” If I had a pony, I’d ride him on my boat.” Unfortunately, all this would not fit on the transom so we shortened it to “If I had a pony…”. Now, of course, almost nobody gets it. Oh well.

P.S. Best line in the song: “Kiss my ass, I’ve bought a boat, I’m going off to sea.”
